Happy Fitversary!

So this month, September 1st to be exact, marks one year that I decided to recommit to live a fit and healthier lifestyle. My biggest motivation then was to get back to the pre-pregnancy body or even a better one. I was already 4 months postpartum (after a c-section) and ready to rock and roll. Luckily, following a disciplined pregnancy there wasn’t too much to lose. I learnt my lesson from the first one 🙂

My first stop: I rediscovered Jillian Michaels. Over the years I’ve worked out to her programs but never really followed through all the way. This time I decided to do a whole program, no quitting til the end. Started out with one called Beginner Shred. If you’re new or been off exercising for a while, I recommend you start with something easier like this. It allows to to help you kickstart your fitness journey without overwhelming yourself. It helped me a lot to find my strength and inner power as I was working to transform my physique and self-confidence. From there on I moved on to more challenging ones.

I do love Jillian, she has taught me about discipline, clean and healthy eating. I discovered a whole community of Jillian Michaels junkies on Facebook. A group of women from all over the world whose only aim is to encourage and motivate each other as we are all on this fitness journey. But, too much of a good thing can become monotonous and boring. I went on and found lots of amazing other trainers who have wonderful programs as well. My next obsession was with Autumn Calabrese 21 Day Fix. She has  amazing advice about portion control (more about that later)

Basically, I feel like I’ve been unstoppable since then. A lot more thought goes into my health, and not just physically, mentally too. At first I was chasing what I thought was my ideal goal weight, but once I reached that I realized it’s not all about a number. What is more important is having and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. No crash/diets and overwhelming yourself with exercise. Doing it the right way is extremely crucial as it benefits you both physically and mentally.

My advice for you guys, find what works for you. It could be going to the gym pumping iron, fitness classes, running or yoga. If you’re passionate about it, the chances of you sticking to it are extremely high. Even better if you have a workout buddy to push and keep each other motivated. Accountability goes a long way. Don’t wait for the new year, start now.

Cheers
