Part 2: Kitchen Makeover

There’s usually a time for most of the people to want to make a fresh start. After the holidays or any indulgent period we often realize that it’s time to clean up the diet and the key to a successful healthy nutrition starts in the kitchen.

It’s not always easy but the only way to do this is to take the time to properly set yourself to transition to a healthier and more sustainable way of life. Setting an intention to live a healthier life is the first step. As I mentioned in the last post, deter from any negative thoughts and push yourself to a better and healthier you.

Regardless of any diet you are following, just a few points to always remember:

  • Be mindful of your portions. Even eating too much of the healthiest foods can be quite detrimental to your health. The best way is to keep track of how much you’re eating. There are some apps that are available for smartphones if you are into that (example: MyFitness Pal)
  • Keep healthy snacks around. It’s easy to eat healthy if you keep the crisps and sweets at bay and stock your kitchen with fruits and other healthy snacks. You’ll be more likely to reach for these than junk food if you have them close by.
  • Stay hydrated – Water is by far the most crucial nutrient in our diet and absolutely essential for our survival. Make sure to start your day with a glass of water and keep yourself hydrated as you go through your day by bringing water with you.
  • Limit junk food. Junk food is easy and convenient especially on busy and stressful days. Nothing against treating yourself once in a while but make sure it doesn’t become a habit.
  • Meal Planning is so trendy in the healthy lifestyle nowadays and I totally get why. It’s easier to plan out meals for a week, stock up your kitchen and it helps you to avoid reaching for unhealthy options.
  • Don’t go extreme with any diet you are following to avoid falling hard off the wagon. It’s always best to follow a sensible diet that you can sustain rather than those that offer ill-guided efforts and can cause serious health consequences.

Hope you consider and share with anyone who may find it interesting.

Cheers
